About Tidewaters
Come As You Are
Online art therapy for when words don’t cut it — and silence isn't enough either.
Come as you are. Bring your mess, your creativity, your grief, your blank canvas. This is a space where expression leads to healing — not judgment.

You don’t have to be an “artist” to use art therapy. You just have to be human — trying to make sense of your inner world.

At Tidewaters, we believe that healing should be accessible — not a luxury. Affordability is woven into how we structure our offerings, because we know that care shouldn’t be out of reach when you need it most. Our sustained care model is a values-based part of our practice, designed to make ongoing therapy accessible without relying on sliding scales.
At Tidewaters, we use creative approaches to help you process what’s hard to say. Through images, movement, metaphor, colour, and conversation, you can start to reconnect with your emotions, your identity, and your self-expression.
This is art therapy that feels like coming home to yourself.

“We’re not here to fix you. You’re not broken. But life? It gets loud. Therapy is where you get to turn the volume down and hear yourself again.”

Individual sessions are a space just for you — to explore, process, create, and reconnect at your own pace.
Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, creatively blocked, grieving, anxious, or simply curious about what’s next, this space is for you.

You don’t need to be an artist. You just need to show up — messy, quiet, curious, however you are.
Relationships aren’t static — they evolve, stretch, and sometimes strain.
Art therapy can help partners and families explore communication, repair trust, understand each other more deeply, and build tools for connection that go beyond talk.

This isn’t about “fixing” your relationship. It’s about being witnessed together in a safe, creative space where both of you get to feel heard.
We offer custom workshops, creative wellness sessions, and consulting for agencies, schools, and organizations seeking compassionate, trauma-informed approaches to care and connection.

Each offering is tailored to your needs — whether it’s a creative burnout workshop, mental health day programming, or art-based staff wellness.

FAQs
Common Questions
Q: Do I need to be good at art to do art therapy?
A: Nope. Absolutely not.

Art therapy isn’t about skill—it’s about expression. You don’t need any art experience to benefit from this work. Whether you love to create and create often or haven’t picked up a pencil in years, you’re welcome here just as you are.

At Tidewaters, we offer curated Art Therapy Kits or general supply lists to help you get started—but you always have the freedom to choose what feels right. It’s not about making “good” art. It’s about showing up, being curious, and trusting your own creative process.
Q: Is this covered by insurance in Canada?
A: In many cases, yes — if your benefits cover services from a mental health professional (like a counsellor or psychotherapist), you should be able to submit our receipts for reimbursement. We’re happy to provide everything you need for that process.

That said, we know not everyone has coverage — or coverage that lasts. So we’ve set a consistent, lowered fee for both individual and relationship therapy to keep care accessible, whether you're insured or not. Because support shouldn’t disappear when your benefits do.
Q: What if I don’t want to make art every session?
A: That’s totally fine. Some sessions may be mostly talk-based, others more creative. We follow you, not a formula.
